It seems so many of Steve’s paintings were done with the intention of giving them as gifts, and this depicton of a ship at stormy sea is no exception. This painting was given to our father, Pete, who was a member of the Merchant Navy during WW2. He no doubt saw a few nights like this, and like any thoughtful artist, Steve would always take a significant element of someone’s life as a basis from which to develop the piece he was gifting.
